Comments:
Bud is a colt that is not your best friend, pal, or buddy. He is quite the hellion, taking after his grandsire. However, instead of reaking havoc only when his handler is riding another horse, or if a man comes too close, he freaks out every possible chance he gets. Instead of ignoring people and just running how he wants, he focuses on them and will do whatever he can to harm you. But he's no killer. He often burns out easily and will let you ride him around after one of his tantrums. Bud is one fast mover when he's past his tantrum stages and has that fast closing kick he inherited from his dam's line. Most of the Augusto line has thrown blacks but like his sire and Requiem, Bud is like a black sheep of the family but only in color, for he is temperament-wise very much a Gus grandson. Mel has hopes on this colt and if all goes well he'll live up to those hopes on his own terms. Our first ever Augusto related colt to be born and bred here, Bud is certainly a gorgeous looker with his flashy markings and bright chestnut coloring. In time we'll see if Rhosebud can lead on the high quality Augusto line and make us proud of him.
Over the winter, Bud matured a lot and what he didn't gain in the attitude department, he gained in muscle tone. He's extremely well fit, and hardy - a trait it seems is something else Augusto passed down to him. He never backs down from a challenge. Ever. He's got the stamina, speed and endurance to go the distance, but he's such a bull on the track it takes a lot of mind and manhandling to keep Bud on the task at hand. Often times, people mistake his handsome coloring as a sign that he's a easily approachable horse when he isn't. He's fine around track attendants as long as they don't get in his way.
