Comments:
GS Poetic Justice was one of only a select few born in the most recent GS foal crop. Matabon put it up as a interest-only type of foal crop and she went so far as to hand-pick which horses would go with what owners. We had our eyes on the Jet colt, GS Jazzman at the time but WRS got him and we settled for Poe. He was very nicely bred colt with two very influential stallions in his pedigree. We have always loved the colts with good, solid lines and plenty of promise as both a racing colt and a breeding stallion. However we aren't committing to any Poe foals being around until he's five, he is good but in our books he could be much better. Mel is already quite smitten by Poe for his shy and sweet disposition and she hopes he'll be a good racer after a lot of hard work is put into him.
Poe is a good sturdy colt. He is a big strong horse already, and although he is bigger than most, he is fairly shy and isn't a bully. He will always try hard, and could do real well with a good jockey, and trainer. However even if he does not get a good trainer, or jockey, he will always be the barn favourite with his bright eyes and cheerful neigh. Man O' War and Dark Goddess combined should give this young colt the speed and strength he needs to be a successful racer. He also has really cool movement, his knees snap up when he trots and gallops, and he always looks really neat because he is so big yet very elegant. His racing style is pretty clean-cut, he breaks cleanly from the gates and usually rates easily back in the back of the pack. He shows signs of being a good sprinter since his speed levels out around seven furlongs. It should be exciting to see how Poe does in his last year as a racer.
