Comments:
Faith In Shadows was one of our most successful racemares in her day, and a lot of people sought out breedings to her. Century was the same, as the only Enchanted Mist foal actively racing he was in hot demand as a stud, and he covered many good mares, Vintage, Fly High Silver and so on. Now we aren't really big on inbreeding but the appeal of crossing our top race mare with Century was too much and in early spring of 2008 we bred the pair. Now we kept Faith racing until about five months into her pregnancy before retiring her. It was in the early days of 2009 when Faith went into labor and what a stunning colt was born from the pair. Nova Sky was selected as his name, due to the night his dam delivered him on. Not a star was seen in the night sky, leading us to name the Faith son Nova Sky. He was born as a bay, almost black in color but matured to a stunning grey color as he got older. He was always the quiet one growing up, very little distracted him, Cain could even handle him. Skyy also enjoys taking long walks along the trails.
Nova Sky has always been very easy to handle despite distancing himself from those who handle him. Still he is our brightest young colt, next to Saki that is, and we will be looking forward to him making his maiden start. Skyy is a happy medium between Century and Faith, he is happy-go-lucky until you tick him off just enough to make him want to have a temper tantrum that make him seem like Gus or Xenophon, but Skyy tends to lose interest in throwing a tantrum after a while and calms down. He has tossed about a couple of grooms who bother him when he doesn't want to be bothered. Skyy is a emotionally distant colt but he connected instantly with Kyle who since day one has been working with him over the protests of Faith. The slam of a door, or crash of a wheelbarrow that would send half a dozen horses running wouldn't bother Skyy, he is just that undeterred. He is a very good ride, quiet and obeying orders but like Century he has his own set of quirks on the track. Solid as a rock and as quiet as a Thoroughbred can come Skyy is unique just like his dear old mom. If it weren't for his shows around the fillies, most people would mistake him for a gelding due to his quiet nature but believe me when Nova gets fired up, he gets very fired up.
