Comments:
Never once did Whitebrook expect to have the chance to own a Augusto son, the fact that he's a gelding is a plus since we didn't really need another racing stallion. Not too many stables have much use for geldings, but Whitebrook is different in their policy, granted we did use to have more interest in letting the stud colts keep their 'boys' and most do until after they have a couple of years on them and have bred one or two mares. The case with Dudley was different from the beginning, we knew that if we got lucky enough to purchase a breeding to the ill-tempered but famous Rockstar-owned, Fable Creek-bred hellion the foal would have to be gelded if it were a colt and strictly limited to foals if it was a filly so we never asked and have seriously kicked ourselves ever since. That is until Firebrand Stables, the owner of Dudley got out of the racing business. Akita Rose inquired about buying the Firebrand black Augusto gelding first but bowed out since they had no use for geldings once they discovered he was in fact a gelding.
Dudley is a very misunderstood colt. If you bond with him, you'd be praised for being able to. Dudley lives up to the temperament in his line, and then some. Bucking, kicking, biting, crow hopping, anything, he'll do just to annoy you. He is ill-tempered, and strikes out if you get close to him. He isn't too terrible though. Once on the track, he quiets down a bit and unlike most of his siblings, he listens to his rider. The only time he really behaves is when he's in training, or in a race. He shows a bit of interest in jumping, but if you want to pursue an eventing career, I'd suggest doing it after he retires from the track. Dudley loves to eat, and no matter what you offer him, he'll take it. That's his one weakness. Give him a roast beef on wheat bread sand which, and he'll be your best friend. But he's also taken beer straight from the bottle, and will eat styrofoam, hair ties, dog food, anything he can or can't fit in his mouth. Just don't give him coffee. All that energy and the caffeine.
