Comments:
Pride is like the 'happyness bunny'. You can do almost anything to him, pull his ear or jump at him and he won't nip you, pin back his ears or anything of the sort. He's so mellow and laid back it's just incredible. He's unique marked as well which was a surprise since his sire barely has any markings and his dam has no markings. He's laid back but not lazy, out there on the track he comes alive and boy should you see him gallop in his workouts. Pride likes to take his time in a race, usually coming on strong in the final stretch. Around the stable yard he's the colt everybody literally talks to, some of the hands swear Pride talks back. He's put together very well and is showing excellent speed in the paddock when he runs with the other yearlings. He's almost like Northern Dancer all over again with his calm mannerism and sweet disposition.
Pride also seems to tend to enjoy running at top speed for only six/seven furlongs, anything past that he looses interest in running and falls back, a sure indicator that he'll be a sprinter. He has turned into a brilliant young colt that is just loaded with talent as a future sprinter. We don't race very many sprinters, our Seabiscuit colt, WB Thunderbird, could run well at mid-distance and sprints but Pride can only keep his speed for five-six furlongs. After that he's no good with keeping up his speed. Don't get me wrong though, Pride thrives off of running, he just can't keep his stamina up after six furlongs. He is a very gentle colt and takes good care of his rider, in fact he's so good with his rider that Cain has been on him when the four yearlings are worked together.
