Our third, and hopefully last foal by Speed of Light Kasimira took a bit of time to be born since we had to find a good enough mare to cross with Speed but every mare we looked at didn't have what we wanted for a hard-hitting, stellar future racer. When we first inquired about a brood to Regency we were turned down but still we couldn't get the bay Rockstar Racing mare out of our heads, and finally we struck a deal with the owners, a breeding to our Turf champion FS Waylay Attack and our rising Determination daughter Faith In Shadows for a Regency breeding. Regency had been offered to us back when the details about Santana's dam were being hashed out and we bowed out, for we knew Vintage would be the dam of the then unborn chestnut Xenophon daughter. Ironically enough Regency was staying with us as well as Vintage, who would foal a War Admiral filly, when both mares went into labor on a bright and sunny day. Kasimira earned her name because of that summer day, a typical clique but it fits her since it is short and to the point, two adjectives that describe Mira perfectly.
Despite her lady like name Kasimira likes to go for mud baths and take a quick spin on at the track at her speed which is most likely to in the wide open gear. At times Mira can be affectionate but she certainly demands respect no matter who or what you are. Since she was one of four fillies to be born for 2008, she considers herself the alpha female, but it is really interesting to watch the dynamics between Mira, Lily, Mai and Andorra. Mira prefers to be around people she knew from day one and can be a bit snobbish around people she doesn't know, which clearly shows the Regency in her. Mira combines the air of respect from her sire and the elegance of her dam. She has enormous confidence and it doesn't bother her all that much if you lightly tap the crop against her flank. She's too smart to throw an tantrum over it but she will swish her tail in an annoyed way to let you know she doesn't appreciate it one bit. One thing is for sure about Mira is that she has an style all her own. Related to the likes of Santana and Sayonara, Kasimira comes from a family well known for producing talented racing females.
