Stryker was born to the first and only pair of twins Struck By War would ever produce. At the time we wanted Roost to cover our champion Saint Phillipe daughter but we changed our minds afterwards and went with a sure bet in Speed of Light. In early 2005 Abby foaled a set of chestnut twins, the colt Stryker went to Rockstar and the filly Sachsen remained behind at Whitebrook, to hopefully be brought up with one mission in mind; be her mother's daughter without the attitude. The twins sire Speed of Light was one heck of a racer in his day and passed those racing genes to this handsome son, while Sachsen inherited Abby's love of eventing. Sachsen was always the more outspoken one and Stryker was the quieter, more laid back one but both were equally talented and showed promise from the very beginning even though their talents were as different as night and day.
Stryker is a true gentleman to the core, his sire's gentle nature definitely controlled the hot-headedness of Struck By War, yet Stryker does have his moments. Compared to his outspoken, and sure of herself sister Stryker pales in contrast with his mellow ways. He does love running, and has good stamina but Stryker doesn't like to waste unneccessary energy, hence the fact of why he gets along with most of the other colts instead of fighting with them all the time. He has a natural stalking position, and a real flair for occasionally showing his dam's devilish attitude on the track. Stryker is a tall boy at three years of age and already seventeen hands, but it is highly doubtful he will grow any taller. He is the true meaning of the phase 'gentle giant' and everyone fights for the opportunity to ride him, since Kasimira, the only other Speed of Light racing foal will be Mel's mount when she turns two.
