Comments:
Diva was named on a whim, but it wasn't until she was a couple of months old that a name actually seemed to suit the shall I say spirited daughter of Determination and Sweet Symphony. As a young foal she was always getting into things, the feed room for example as well as tearing up several fly masks and biting at the broodmare's winter blankets. After she turned a yearling she got out of the cute, annoying phase and had a almost personality flip. She was more reserved and kept to herself for the most part.
Diva's built like a colt with all the elegance of a filly. She doesn't do hugs, much like her older half-sister Faith In Shadows, and her cold receptions towards strangers and those who have handled her since day one is intimidating. It's hard to predict her next move out there on the racetrack since she is young but very determined to do things her way. Her movements are like that of a tiger waiting to pounce, and she never gets into a fit of rage when another horse bumps into her out there on the track or paddock, she just minds her own business and goes about her way. She is a nice filly with good lines, and quite the opposite of Folksong. Whitebrook has always had success with the Determination line and maybe just maybe Diva will be among them in a couple of years. She doesn't possess the bloodthirsty Augusto/Xenophon traits but we consider that a good thing. Ironically where most of the Determination lined foals are mid-distance runners Diva gives her best times in workouts at distances of six or seven furlongs. She tends to fade after seven and a half furlongs so she definitely will be our sprinter.
