Comments:
We have always liked Fly High Silver, especially after seeing Geronimo race and go all the way to MHS Legend. His sire Oddside was a son of the Twilight Stakes winners Stormwing and Spotted By A Star so needless to say we immediately started bidding on him. It was a hot contest since we were bidding against Fable Creek, another friend but eventually we got Jay for $100,000, rather cheap since his half-sister Belladona by Xenophon sold for over three billion dollars. After racing and riding the likes of GS Gallant Prince and FS Waylay Attack, finding a colt who would turn out to follow in their footsteps and shine, would be difficult and at the very least unlikely to ever be accomplished. However as the months have passed and Jay has been out about getting race experience at different tracks and such, it has been made increasingly clear that this colt might just mature into the colt that will surpass both Prince and Waylay on the track, and maybe in the breeding shed too.
This boy will be a forced to be reckoned with out on the track one day. I sure wouldn't want to be pitched up against him. His temper isn't mean but it is fierce and he is far from being bombproof. He will definitely not be the type anyone can just jump onto but I would trust any good jockey on his back as he is not like Xenophon with a bad temper. Grandson of Stormwing his sire Oddside a demi legend himself will soon be out on the track tearing it up. Half brother to Geronimo as well he definitely has the bloodlines to at the very least be a great sire of champions if not one himself. He is very big and muscular so it takes a good hand to control him. Jay's not the greatest fan of being cooped up, he kicks out at the walls and tends to nip who ever goes by his stall but offer him a peppermint and he's your best friend.
Jay has bonded strongly with Mel, very rarely does he ever listen to anyone as well as he listens to her, and when they're on and working together in harmony well let's just say that they make a team that is hard to beat. Jay can run on any surface, but his strategy is always the same, get out front and stay there. He breaks incredibly well at the start, even though he's not big on standing in the starting gate. When Jay starts getting rank after he's been blocked in Mel drops him back and lets him settle into a steady pace before setting him down for the final drive. He is so big and powerful that he can fight his way through the field when he's blocked in but most of the time when that happens Jay will wind up being collared by a fresher horse at the wire since he will spend most of his energy trying to get out of the box. He also has a specific preference for distances anywhere from eight to twelve furlongs. He could never be a sprinter, the six furlongs isn't long enough for him to fully get into gear.
