our hearts beat as one when we're together if I never get the chance to say it I love you
The bay filly's eyes brightened as I approached her paddock. Pulling my jacket closer I looked straight into the warm brown eyes of the Thoroughbred filly. Folksong whickered a warm greeting, the rising sun appearing on the horizon and turning the gorgeous bay's coat a rich bay color. Her ears pricked forward the compact filly burst forward after releasing a loud whinny. Song's hooves leaving behind a path as she bore down to me. Slipping through the rails I met the bay half-way. Circling around me and collecting her gait Song tossed her head lightly before nudging my hand and lipping at the sleeve of my jacket. "Hey baby girl." I whispered and Folksong crowded close, her cheek brushing mine as I stood quietly.
Nothing else in the world mattered as we stood watching the sun come up, turning the farm into color. Listening to Song's heart beat beneath her chest I glanced sideways into the gentle brown eyes of the filly that I held close my heart skipped at her beauty. It was amazing, after all the champions I'd trained and ridden Song outclassed them all. "Songs, you going to show Sayonara who's the best in the Distaff?" I asked the elegant bay filly in a low voice, and she nuzzled my hands her whiskers tickling my fingers . No one knew what I had in mind for the Breeders' Cup Distaff and boy would it catch the others off guard.
Folksong knew all about the plan as usual. She was my confidant, whenever I needed a ear she was there. Between her and Santana the two fillies were my best friends, any secrets I told them would never be told to anyone else. If there was something as odd as soul sisters Song was mine. Every kind of obstacle could be thrown our way but our bond would always prevail, whether or not my bay lost the distaff or won it wouldn't matter to me. She meant way more to me than any race victory, although if she did win well I'd call it a team effort.
