Comments:
GS Gallant Prince was a stallion born to less than stellar lines, and when he arrived at WB he was as high strung as any young colt could be. We were constantly having to turn him out to get him to blow off steam since he was so high strung he couldn't stand to be in his stall for too long. I was usually the one to be working with Prince and a bond grew tight between me and my first GS bred colt. He had promise to be a good racer, I could tell that from the way he always was ready to turn on the speed even when he was dead on his feet. A die hard racer. Prince remained a stallion until he was about 5 and a half years but he always seem to respond better to a quiet hand, than a aggressive one. A bit of a problem I noticed over the time I shared with this majestic stallion was that he wasn't fond of thunderstorms. In races he never would back from a fight though, usually coming on strong in the finish with a fast closing kick which as he continued to race became his trademark style of running. He was always full of life, he'd greet you with a whinny each and every day. His spirit will live on in his full sister and his legacy will run freely thoughout Whitebrook and the entire racing world through his few foals and grandfoals.
